Asymmetric barrel-faced ring
Used in the First compression ring that conducive to form the oil firm & radial pressure on the cylinder wall. Also release the pressure on the working face of piston rings to a certain extent. So, the large chamfer in top of the working face will not pump the engine oil to the combustion chamber in the long-term operation.
Its material is mostly cast iron and steel that the surface coatings with chromed-plating, Gas nitriding, molybdenum spraying, CKS, PVD and DLC.

Taper-faced ring
Used in the second compression ring that the bevel on working face reduce the contact area between the ring and the cylinder wall which conducive to wearing-in and sealing. In the meantime, during suction stroke when the rings move down, they scrape off the excessive oil from the cylinder wall. When the rings move upward, they tend to skate over the oil film on the cylinder wall and avoid the melting wear.
Its material is mostly cast iron and the surface coatings with chromed-plating.

Keystone barrel ring
Used in the first compression ring. The side clearance will constantly change because of the barrel face during the radial motion. Therefore, it can reduce the combustion carbon deposits to the minimum extent and avoid the ring sticking in the piston.
Its material is mostly cast iron and steel that the surface coatings with chromed-plating, Gas nitriding, molybdenum spraying, CKS, PVD and DLC.

I type oil control ring with expander (small oil return hole)
Used in the second compression ring with reverse twist at scraping edge on the OD bottom side which has good ability of oil scraping. Reverse twist increases the bottom area of the ring that prevents the increase of oil pressure and engine oil pumping upwards.
